Friends...

After doing some thinking about this, I have decided that I'm going to make this journal friends only.  I really don't want to do this, but I also realize that there are people out there who do read this, and frankly, my business isn't any of their concern anymore.

So, if you want to stay or be put on my friends list, leave me a comment.

Thanks.

Where does the time go?

God, it's so hard to believe how fast Christmas comes and goes. The whole holiday season, in fact. I mean, it feels like yesterday that it was Thanksgiving, and now New Years is here in a couple of days. The older I get, the faster the time goes.

First off, I hope you all had a spectacular Christmas! Dan and I sure did. We started out Friday, Christmas Eve, leaving about 1 1/2 hours later than originally planned. I had to do a load of laundry that morning, and of course the only laundry room in the building was busy. I had to use the crappy drier, which takes 2 tries to get everything dry. Plus, I had to run to Target to get some Christmas cards for gift cards, and a card for Dan, as I had forgotten. So, we ended up leaving for my grandparents' at about 4. We sat around a bit, and then had dinner, which was ham. Then, we opened our presents, which is what we've always done on my mom's side of the family. Then, Dan, my mom and I went to church. I'm not big into going to church for different reasons, but I like going Christmas Eve. It was a candle-light ceremony, which is always so pretty. Then, when we came out of church around midnight, it was lightly snowing, which is so gorgeous. One of my favorite things in the entire world is coming out of church on Christmas Eve, and find it snowing. After that, the 3 of us went back to Grandma and Grandpa's, and nibble on food, and watched some TV with my aunt and uncle. I finally went to bed around 1:30.

On Christmas Day, we got up, and then just hung out with my family. We had lunch, and then got ready to head up North to be with Dan's family. I had the hardest time leaving my family. I started to cry really hard when we were saying goodbye. I guess it really just hit me how lucky I am to have my grandparents still around, and how my family is so amazing. I still felt sad probably an hour after we left. But, we got up there around 5, and then had dinner, which was roast beef and duck. We opened presents after dinner, and then just hung around, and went to bed.

On Sunday, I did a little bit of shopping, and then Dan's mom bought me a bunch of those bags for wrapping for me for next year:) I'm thrilled. I don't have to wrap anymore! WOOWOO!!! But, Sunday was pretty low-key. I ran into a friend of mine from high school at the mall, and it was so good to see her. I love when you run into people you know unexpectedly. So, I got her numbers/email address, so I'm planning on dropping her a line today. On Sunday night, I met Dan's aunt and uncle for the first time, and then we ran into Hibbing (Dan is from Eveleth, which is like 20 minutes from Hibbing), and met up with some friends from high school. We had dinner and then a few of us went for coffee afterwards. We went back to Dan's parents' afterwards, and went to sleep.

On Monday, we just kind of lazied around all day. I went and got my hair cut, and then that night we went back into Hibbing for my Grandpa's birthday party. It's really the only time I see most of my relatives on my dad's side, so it's always nice to see them. Once again, I felt extremely lucky that I have both grandparents on my dad's side as well. (Well, my paternal grandmother passed away before any of the grandkids were born, but my grandpa remarried.) Dan and I left to come back home around 10:30, and finally got home around 2. All in all, it was a really amazing weekend.

Dan and I got extremely spoiled this weekend. From my family we got:
-a bagless vacuum cleaner
-an electric litter box that cleans itself
-a food processor/blender
-a toaster
-clothing
-I know I'm forgetting something!

From Dan's family we got:
-an electric can opener
-an electric carving knife
-an air compressor/battery jumper
-a drill
-wicker baskets
-bath stuff
-kitchen stuff
-pictures of us, the cats, and ferrets

From Dan I got:
-amazingly beautiful pearl earrings.

Did I mention we got spoiled??

Why wrapping presents sucks my ass...

Ahhh, the life of a procrastinator. Here it is, 3:45a.m. Christmas Eve, and I'm still awake. Not because I want to be, but because I dicked around too much this week, and just wrapped Christmas presents about an hour ago. I hate wrapping presents with a passion. I would much rather put it in one of those decorative bags with some tissue paper and call it good. However, those bags can be expensive, so I thought heck, I'll just get some wrapping paper. Now I remember why I hate wrapping presents; I suck at it. I always use too much paper, and then start hacking away so I can make it work. Then, it gets all bunchy, and stuff, and looks yucky. Next year, I don't care what the cost, I'm using bags...

I have that Virgin Mobile commercial song stuck in my head... "It's ok if you're a Muslin, a Christian or a Jew/It's ok if you're agnostic and you don't know what to do/An all inclusive celebration/No contractional obligations/Merry Chrismahannakwanzaka to you!!!" How catchy is that?!?!?!? I absolutely dig that commercial, and have had that song stuck in my head off and on since they start playing it. Now, it's stuck in yours;)

But, seriously, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year...

Ahhh, the power of oranges...

I am in love. I have spent the past 3+ hours cleaning our bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom is still a disaster, because I'm trying to figure out where to put everything. Moving blows. However, my bathroom looks amazing. My friend Heather gave me this Orange Clean kit. It's amazing, amazing stuff. Our bathtub was disgusting; it didn't have mold in it, but it had that gross, white soap scum, and that nasty black grimy stuff that's like residue left over from bath products. With a little bit of elbow grease, the orange stuff took care of it. I'd actully let a stranger use my bathroom! (Well, almost... The floor still needs to be done). But, it worked well on the tile grout too. Like I said, no mold, but it was scummy and dirty. Not anymore! (Good Lord, I sound like a commericial!) I'm just starting to feel relieved... Our deposit for this place was one month's rent: Almost $800, and I'll be damned if I'm not getting the majority of it back.

We have decided that we are going to start moving into our new place on December 29th. We hope to have it all done by the 31st. We have a wedding to go to in Duluth on January 1st, (contingent on how tired we are that day. We're gonna be doing a ton of running around between the 24th and 1st) and I'd like to have everything moved into the new place by then. We have until the 15th to be out of here, but if we can get everything done by the 31st, it would save us almost $400 for 1/2 month rent here. So, I'm trying to get situation under control. I didn't do much yesterday, but today, I cleaned the bathroom, and started dismantling the bedroom. With Christmas coming up, I won't be able to do anything from the 24th-27th, so I want to get as much done as possible before then. I think that once I start cleaning the living room, I'll feel more relaxed. It's the biggest shit-hole right now. Dan and I got extremely lazy after he moved in. We haven't cleaned much at all. Thank God this place isn't bigger than it is. We'd be screwed.

Anyhoo, here's a link to our new apartment complex/floorplan. We're renting the Interlachen plan, and it's gorgeous. We both absolutely fell in love with it. I wish the kitchen was a little bit bigger, but I just love everything about that place... :) http://www.forrent.com/search/detail.asp?site=1020066

Well, that's that. I'm off to shower, and then maybe run some errands and do some more cleaning later on. I have my math final tomorrow, so I should probably go over my math stuff. Wish me luck! (With everything!)

Yuck

There is this guy in my math class, and for about the last month, he has come to class dressed like a pimp. I kid you not. He dresses in this white, terry-cloth tracksuit, a baseball cap on, slightly skewed, and this puffy jacket that makes him look like the Michelin Man. He also walks with this slight stagger, with this little smirk on his face. He pisses me off. I want to slap him and tell him that fat, white men does not a pimp make. His only redeeming quality is that he hates Bush. I heard him bashing him repeatedly before the election. However, it doesn't make up for the horrible way he dresses. And I normally don't give a shit what people wear! But, he really really pisses me off with what he wears!
